The collection consists of two letters: to Dear Philip, 27 Jan. 1884, hoping that he will visit, and offering to read John Marston's Antonio's Revenge; to Dear sir [A. Chatto], 21 June, no year, requesting some things be sent to him, and including a post script correction to his Essays [first published 1875].

Philip Bourke Marston (1850-1887) was born in London, England, the son of John Westland Marston (1819-1890), a dramatic poet.
